More Personal Photos of Sam Bradley

So, last week I wanted to dedicate all my posts to Sam Bradley... Um, I got busy. But seriously, the main sewer line backed up into my house!! WTF?!

Anyway, besides my house being torn up, my film/lit class being extremely demanding and work being work... I still really want to show you my personal photos that I took of Sam Bradley while he was here. For those not familiar with his music, he is an amazing musician. Honestly, I’m not one to be blown away by any particular artist these days, but whatever Sam has, it’s mesmerizing. He’s truly a rising star.

So first, let me show you the video that I took of Sam. His original idea was to play the electrical guitar, solo. But, things didn’t work out and he ended up switching to his acoustic guitar, if I can remember, only after one song. Of course, I have that one song!! So without further adieu, Sam Bradley - That’s How Strong My Love Is

Next up, are photos from both Friday and Saturday night.

My friend Lori and Sam.
She lei’d him!

My fucking camera and it’s strong desire
to blur EVERYTHING!

Love his intensity.

Sam’s energy is contagious.

How cute is that whiskey lei?

Sam recognizing the beautiful, Chablis
and her efforts for bringing him out to Hawaii.

Sam literally does drink Whiskey which taste
like cat urine to me. Just saying...

My friends and Sam’s group having
drinks at an Irish pub. We shut this place down.
No lie, they had to kick us out.
Look at me and Lori trying to be all Englishman-like
drinking New Castle and Guiness.

Sam and I on Saturday before his gig
because my other photos of him the night
before clearly show we were drunk. Plus, I look like ass.

I’m trying to explain something to Sam.
and Sam obviously can’t hear.

Sam’s like “I just want to dance now.”

Sam not quite dancing yet... Getting there!

There you go, Sam cuts loose in the background.

Btw, a few of these photos were taken by Candie as well. Thanks Candie for your awesomeness!! I won’t torture you with a thousand photos of Sam, you get the just of it... It’s just when you like a performer so much, you want others to like him/her too. Honestly, do yourself a favor and download Zuni (his album). It’s awesome!

Alexander Skarsgård Out Interview

Recently, Out Magazine invited Alexander
Skarsgård to sit down and answer questions by both Out Magazine and Swedish director, Jones Åkerlund (Madonna's Ray of Light, Lady Gaga's Paparazzi, and Christina Aguilera's Beautiful)

Åkerlund: One thing I notice when I've been in Los Angeles and then come back to Sweden is that when I put on the TV and see a naked person, I go, "Whoa." It takes me a little bit of time to convert every time I come back. It's just two different cultures.

Skarsgård: And that always strikes me as weird because parents in the States freak out if their kids see a nipple or a butt cheek, but at the same time they're OK with their kids watching people bash each other's heads in with baseball bats. I notice in interviews in the U.S. all people want to talk about is nudity. You have a half-hour interview, and you spend 25 minutes talking about the nude scenes, and of course, if it makes sense as a scene, I'll do it. I don't even think someone -- some guy who doesn't know any gay people or black people, who may have all these prejudices -- if that guy watches the show and thinks, I really like this character, then you've done something pretty good.

Out: If you had to choose the greatest Swede of all time, who would it be?

Skarsgård: The actor Ernst-Hugo Järegård. He's been such a big inspiration in my life. He played the lead in Lars von Trier’s The Kingdom, the Danish TV series. And that performance was kind of when I knew I wanted to be an actor. It’s just amazing. It's similar to what Ricky Gervais did in The Office -- one of those characters that you just love to hate, or hate to love. You're not sure what it is, but you're just mesmerized.

Out: What's the thing you always miss when you're away from Sweden?

Åkerlund: Two things only: the change of the seasons, which are so extreme in Sweden, and my mom's cooking. Those are the only things I really care about.

Skarsgård: Also, I think part of the reason why there are so many musicians coming out of Sweden is you're encouraged to play an instrument, or to sing and be creative, from a very early age, and it's free. It's a combination of a good school system and the long, dark winters. Because that means people sit in their garages and play music for five months because it's too cold and dark to be outside.

Åkerlund: That's the boning season. [Laughter] And then it's spring, and that's also boning season. And summer's the best boning season.

Skarsgård: And that's also why we're so liberal and so cool with our sexuality -- because we fuck a lot [laughter].

Åkerlund: How much time can you spend playing the drums?

Skarsgård: When you're bored, just have sex.

Sam Bradley Video From “Live In Honolulu"

Day 2 of All Things Sam Bradley; My Artistic Pictures

I told you. This week is dedicated to all things Sam... If you are saying Sam who, then you probably should click off this blog. I’ll start by just adding photos of my fun pics that I took at the "Sam Bradley - Live in Honolulu” set.

Friday night began with the arrival of a gang of us women at the Venue in chinatown located in downtown Honolulu.

The room was perfect, air conditioned with a small stage up front and intimate tables placed sporadically near the adequately sized stage that made you feel as if you could reach out and touch the performer as he/she played.

Eager to set our purses down, we quickly found our seats and this was the cute little reserved card waiting for me. Oh, this card came in handy later when I asked Sam to sign it.

Sam played an amazing set both nights and roughly consisted of 13 songs. Where my chair was placed on Friday night put me right in front of Sam’s mic. However, much to my amusement I also witnessed a woman swoop in front of me the first night to take Sam’s set list. “Oh,” I exclaimed. I never would have thought of it. Of course the second night, my friend Lori and I both had our eyes on the set list. This time as soon as Sam finished his last song and everybody clapped, I politely walked up to Sam and asked his if I could have his set list. He peeled it up and handed it to me, probably thinking I was a little weird for asking, rather than just taking it as other women would do. But I’m new to this intimate, concert scene--that’s not my style. Anyway, I’m happy that I did ask.

On Friday night, Sam and a few of his friends and my gang decided to head across the street to have a few cold ones at of course... an Irish pub. Because that’s what you do in Hawaii. Right? We’d thought Sam would like that. Now, let me first throw in one personal account here. Inside the bar, the place was packed. On Friday nights, Chinatown goes off!! Our group kind of just stood there among the havoc, not knowing where to sit. Sam finally came in after dropping his guitar off and asked why were standing. We explained that there weren’t any seats and Sam took off looking for stools. He had no shame asking people for their spare seats and literally one by one, brought us seats. It was SO chivalrous!!

Well, thankfully a table in the back finally opened up and we were all able to sit down and have a proper drink. Let me tell you, having drinks with Sam was hilariously fun. I’ll spare the details of our conversation because clearly we had one too many libations... And it was probably random as evidenced by his signature on my reserved card. Yes, that says “There is never...” and no I don’t know what that means, but I still adore Sam regardless.

Last, is a picture I took of Sam’s guitar with a lei draped near it. I can’t tell you how much fun I had seeing Sam play live two days in a row. Maybe it was just the fact that I was able to spend the entire weekend with my friends, maybe it was the fact that I got to have drinks with Sam. Either way, his music and his performance had an impression on me and I’m grateful for being introduced to his music. Thank you Chablis!!

My Unedited Sam Bradley Interview

This last weekend I was FINALLY able to see Sam Bradley live. Thanks to the promoter, I was lucky enough to catch him on both Friday night and Saturday night -- And I have to tell you that if you have never seen Sam Bradley live, you are missing out big time.

Sam is a musician that is talented beyond measure.... He’s a great recording artist but even better performing artist. And that is the truth. If I can persuade you to do anything this year, it is to turn your attention to Sam and his music. I think it’s become my goal to support him -- Twilight who? Rob who?

So this week, I will be dedicating my blog posts to Sam Bradley. To start, I thought I would post my unedited interview with Sam prior to his performance. (I wrote an article for a local magazine regarding his performance.)

Here is the unedited interview:

Have you ever been here to the islands? What prompted you to choose such an intimate setting and why?

Sam- No Never. What prompted me? Well the island and the promoter. Traveling is one of the reasons I love playing music.

So for those who are not familiar with your music, how would you describe it? And do you write all your own songs?

Sam- The ass in me would like to say that I play and sing my music and not describe it but… Its Americana ish. It really varies from song to song but that’s how its shaping up on the new recording. I write most songs. I have a really talented band and they are contributing more and more songs, which is perfect for keeping ourselves fresh as we grow. Hippie

I’m always curious to see what types of music musicians listen to. What’s currently on heavy rotation on your iPod?

Sam- Today I’m listening to James Hunter.

As a singer/songwriter, where do you turn for inspiration? And since you do travel and tour quite frequently, what do you do to keep those creative juices flowing?

Sam- I don’t turn to anything really. Never force it. Juices flowing? Pineapple?

I recently saw an interview with you back in May and noticed that you really do enjoy touring and being self funded, allows you the freedom to perform music the way you want. Why is this important to you?

Sam- It’s important to me because it is me. No point lying or pretending… Yet!

I have to say, I feel you’re under appreciated but have a strong core of dedicated fans that use social media to your advantage. Anything you’d like to say to them?

Sam- That’s nice of you. I have never looked at it like I’m under appreciated. Its just the beginning. I’m just working on reaching as many people as possible.

What can fans expect differently from The Venue play list; will you be showcasing any new material? Also, what would you say to those to encourage them to come and see you play?

Sam- I may play some new songs. I will be playing without my band so that will be different from my last tour. There’s nothing to hide behind. Not that that’s what I do but I will be naked. Maybe I’ll play naked or just beachwear. (I wear speedo’s)

What does the rest of the year look like for you? Do you have any projects that you would like to share? Collaborations?

Sam- I will be releasing some new music and there may be a duet on there. Haven’t decided yet. I just want to keep playing. Keep writing and to keep on making my way forward.

Alright, now for the fun stuff. What do you want to do while you’re here in Hawaii?

Sam- I want to drive around. Visit some beaches. Taste some food. Drink. Write. Walk. Really though that’s a question I should be asking you. (Btw, he did rent scooters and drove all over the island.)

Sam Bradley is the most personable musician that I’ve ever met and I can’t stress enough, how fantastic he is live. If you are not familiar with his music, click here to download a free copy of his hit, “Details”.
