My Unedited Sam Bradley Interview

This last weekend I was FINALLY able to see Sam Bradley live. Thanks to the promoter, I was lucky enough to catch him on both Friday night and Saturday night -- And I have to tell you that if you have never seen Sam Bradley live, you are missing out big time.

Sam is a musician that is talented beyond measure.... He’s a great recording artist but even better performing artist. And that is the truth. If I can persuade you to do anything this year, it is to turn your attention to Sam and his music. I think it’s become my goal to support him -- Twilight who? Rob who?

So this week, I will be dedicating my blog posts to Sam Bradley. To start, I thought I would post my unedited interview with Sam prior to his performance. (I wrote an article for a local magazine regarding his performance.)

Here is the unedited interview:

Have you ever been here to the islands? What prompted you to choose such an intimate setting and why?

Sam- No Never. What prompted me? Well the island and the promoter. Traveling is one of the reasons I love playing music.

So for those who are not familiar with your music, how would you describe it? And do you write all your own songs?

Sam- The ass in me would like to say that I play and sing my music and not describe it but… Its Americana ish. It really varies from song to song but that’s how its shaping up on the new recording. I write most songs. I have a really talented band and they are contributing more and more songs, which is perfect for keeping ourselves fresh as we grow. Hippie

I’m always curious to see what types of music musicians listen to. What’s currently on heavy rotation on your iPod?

Sam- Today I’m listening to James Hunter.

As a singer/songwriter, where do you turn for inspiration? And since you do travel and tour quite frequently, what do you do to keep those creative juices flowing?

Sam- I don’t turn to anything really. Never force it. Juices flowing? Pineapple?

I recently saw an interview with you back in May and noticed that you really do enjoy touring and being self funded, allows you the freedom to perform music the way you want. Why is this important to you?

Sam- It’s important to me because it is me. No point lying or pretending… Yet!

I have to say, I feel you’re under appreciated but have a strong core of dedicated fans that use social media to your advantage. Anything you’d like to say to them?

Sam- That’s nice of you. I have never looked at it like I’m under appreciated. Its just the beginning. I’m just working on reaching as many people as possible.

What can fans expect differently from The Venue play list; will you be showcasing any new material? Also, what would you say to those to encourage them to come and see you play?

Sam- I may play some new songs. I will be playing without my band so that will be different from my last tour. There’s nothing to hide behind. Not that that’s what I do but I will be naked. Maybe I’ll play naked or just beachwear. (I wear speedo’s)

What does the rest of the year look like for you? Do you have any projects that you would like to share? Collaborations?

Sam- I will be releasing some new music and there may be a duet on there. Haven’t decided yet. I just want to keep playing. Keep writing and to keep on making my way forward.

Alright, now for the fun stuff. What do you want to do while you’re here in Hawaii?

Sam- I want to drive around. Visit some beaches. Taste some food. Drink. Write. Walk. Really though that’s a question I should be asking you. (Btw, he did rent scooters and drove all over the island.)

Sam Bradley is the most personable musician that I’ve ever met and I can’t stress enough, how fantastic he is live. If you are not familiar with his music, click here to download a free copy of his hit, “Details”.

Team Sam!

Great interview! I agree 100% with the fact that Sam is a fabulous performer and an equally wonderful person. I've seen him many times and every time I am just blown away! If you ever get a chance and he comes near you, (even NOT near you..LoL) go see him!

Suz, what a fabulous interview! You asked fantastic questions and received really terrific replies. I got such a good sense of his personality. I saw him perform a little over a year ago and loved the show. He really is an underappreciated talent. Thanks for sharing!
