What Are You Most Looking Forward To In 2011?

Can you believe it's 2011?

Right before midnight, I proclaimed out loud, that we are almost a year older!! Then my husband and two daughters, simultaneously, yelled "You don't get a year older on New Year's Day. You get a year older on your birthday!"

WEEEELLLL! Dammit, I was buzzed. I can't be held accountable for things I say under the influence of Italian Sparkling Wine.

So, what are you most looking forward to in 2011?
Any movie or show that you are eagerly awaiting?

Yes, this my real decor.
Can you tell I love cinema?

I have to say I'm genuinely excited about the new Season of True Blood this summer, but I'm even more excited about the new season of Boardwalk Empire this coming fall! I. LOVE. THAT. SHOW. Steve Buscemi and Michael Pitt steal every scene they are in. ADDICTED. At this point, even more than True Blood. So, I'm really banking on Alan Ball to bring us a better season of TB. I'm hoping for a softer side of Eric Northman, or at the very least, glimpses of it. And sex. Lots of it with Eric please (hey, it's in the book).

Also I'm curios to see Ryan Kwanten and Jackson Rathbone in Truckstop. The release date is 2011 but there is nothing updated as of yet, but it looks like it will be a tear jerker and THAT is what I want to see from both of these actors. A really good drama.

TRUCKSTOP is the story of Charles, a young man with cerebral palsy who works at truck stop along the New Jersey shore taking care of his father who is dying of AIDS. While at the truck stop, he befriends Vicki a troubled prostitute. Through their friendship, they find the strength that each needs to confront their obstacles.

And maybe some of this please...

Needless to say, I'm also very intrigued to see Rob in Water For Elephants. The trailer looks great, Rob looks gorgeous, I love the plot, and Reese looks unbelievably stunning. BUT. Believe it or not, not so much for Bel Ami. Certain actresses have ZERO chemistry (example: Natalie Portman and Christian Haydensen in Star Wars) and I'm afraid that seeing pictures of Rob holding Uma Thurman have tainted my views on the matter. Also, I'm not a huge fan of Christina Ricci (example: no chemistry at all with Johnny Depp in Sleepy Hollow). I'm positive I will still go to see the movie whenever it is finally released, but Rob better make up for it.

Then there is of course, Breaking Dawn. Oh who the fuck am I kidding, of course I'm dying to see this movie.

Um, this will be very awkward to see with my girls.

So creatively, what are you hoping to achieve this year?
Any of you tackling writing?
Video editing? *coughs*

For me, it's fingers to the keys, and I'm off and typing. Back to my writing. I think I took about a month off from it and now I'm ready to get back to doing what I love.

"It starts with this: put your desk in the corner, and every time you sit down there to write, remind yourself why it isn't in the middle of your room. Lift isn't a support-system for art. It's the other way around." Stephen King

This is my writing desk and
it's in the corner of my bedroom.

By the way, if you have never read On Writing, by Stephen King. You should. It's every writer's MUST have book. And you will be surprised at some of his confessions and struggles. (Example: The book Misery is symbolic for the drugs and alcohol that consumed King during that time.) It is very inspirational, helpful and over all, entertaining. I'm currently studying  King 101. (Okay, I just made that up. There is no college course but if there was, I would take it in a heart beat). I'm reading book 1 of the Dark Tower series too. (A little FYI, The Dark Tower series took King over thirty three years to write and he considers it is his masterpiece.)

Let's see what else.

I also have a current obsession with black and white photography and I'm looking to get better at it over the course of the year. Yes, I probably have ADD. Thanks for asking.

A picture I took of the Hawaii Theatre, built in 1922.

And last I am most definitely inspired by other bloggers. kiTT over at Tongue Twied did a very touching post on Sunday, thanking our "constant" (okay you have to be a LOST fan to know what that is), J over at Robmusement for all the kindness she bestows on us. You see that Princeward on the left hand side bar? That's from her. Every time I start a new fanfic, she makes me a beautiful banner. I don't even have to beg and cry, she just does it. But kiTT, you don't get off that easy. You are just as big of a supporter too! Your encouraging comments, your emails, your posts dedicated to fanfic authors. You know we all love you too.

Bottom line is this. I'm so happy that I am obsessive over anything. It triggers a creative side of me. Blogging, writing, reading fanfic, taking photos, making videos, reading other people's blogs. All of it. I love it and want more of it. So this next year, I simply hope that I continue to find happiness in the little retarded things I do.

So let's keep doing what we love,
and here's to 2011!

Like you, I hope to take more photos and do some writing.

Looking forward to Treme coming back, SXSW, BlogHer 2011, Comic Con 2011 if I can get tickets, graduating.

I hope I'll do some international travel - i.e., go to the Doctor Who Experience in London.

And most importantly I hope to move to Hawai'i this year.

Wow. There was so much packed in here I don't remember it all to respond to, but......

Yes, On Writing was so helpful! King's straightforwardness is just the NY plainspeak I appreciate. I only read the Dark Tower comic books and they're crazy intense - it's one thing to describe a fetus cut out of a pregnant woman's stomach and another to SEE the actual kid. ::shudder::

And um...Kwanten AND Rathbone in a movie? This sounds suspiciously like a TB/Twi crossover fanfic. Hmn...wait a minute...::runs to computer::

:) Go with your writing self! You can so do this!

Ryan & Jackson in a movie together, shirtless?! How am I supposed to watch that without combusting?!
We get Boardwalk Empire sometime this year-yay! I saw the trailer the other day so hopefully don't have to wait long.
WFE is going to kill me.
They better make TB S4 EXACTLY the same as the book (especially the shower scene) or we will have to lynch Alan Ball.
Don't give a shit about BD, havn't even decided yet if I'll go.
To all you super creative fic writers, (you included of course @HG)keep up the good work, I envy you all.

How do you do it? I'm exhausted just hearing about everything you are going to be able to juggle doing this year, and I see you forgot about your aspiring acting career, and then I got so distracted by the jackson picture that I didn't even make it to the end of this post.

I hope I didn't miss anything good. :p

StackedLikeSookie-WATCH Boardwalk Empire, OMG. I need to talk BE with you.
TT-It's called OCD/ADD. I have both. Thus for my constant obsessions (that don't last). :)
