The Tale of Two Squees
As many of you know, I write a newsletter for a magazine. Though I try to be as professional as possible, there are times I may sneak in some personality. That is where I made my mistake.
This vile tale begins as such...
It was a dark and stormy night. I had just completed my newsletter and succumbed to the abyss of my delusions and whimsical dreams. When my body awoke, I without conscience nor soul, stumbled into that hell they deem “my office”.
My deadline was approaching, but I felt confident in what I had put forth. I gave my cowriter the opportunity to make any final comments or changes, which she had done so within a blink of an eye.
The hour struck 12... as in lunchtime, so I quickly sent off my newsletter.
When I returned, fed and full, there was an email waiting like a snake with a slithering tongue.
My editor: “What does squeeing mean?”
Tickled, I decided to explain and send a link from urban dictionary to settle his worries. Upon looking the word up, I gasped in horror. Squee and Squeeing are two different things.
Behold, the definition for squeeing mocked me like a black raven.... Sitting on top of my computer, cackling, whispering, waiting for my demise.
In my attempts to slip in some humor, I had used the word incorrectly, telling my editor that I shot liquid poop out my ass, as a response to a new show.
I will be wise in the future; to add it nevermore....
Side note: Did I scare you with my Edgar Allen Poe interpretation? Whatever!! Don’t mistake the two words!

They Say Vampires Are So 2009 & Zombies Are In!
But a little film called Zombieland changed that for me, and I found that... I totally enjoy the kickass demise of zombies. If you haven't seen the film, seriously, you will crack up.
What's even funnier, the rules that are associated with surviving zombies. Here's the list from Zombieland.
Anyhoo... This leads me to my next comment. The Walking Dead. If you aren't familiar, let me start with one of the most brilliant fan-made trailers ever made. *Bows to trailer makers*
The Walking Dead is an original series that will premiere with a 90 minute debut on AMC channel this Sunday, October 31 at 10/9c. There is quite a bit of buzz surrounding this show, and I think it's definitely worth checking out. Okay, who am I kidding. I have such high expectations of this show, it better be good. With clever marketing, (26 cities worldwide were infected with Zombies) I can only hope this show will deliver.
Click here, to view photos of Zombie invasion.
The Walking Dead is based on the ongoing comic book series, titled the same. It is about an officer that helps survivors in an apocalyptic world where zombies rule.
Disclaimer: I still love Vampires. Zombies are not hot, they are not sexy. That is all.

Weekly Recap and Another Friday Fiction!
I swear I have a disease... I have been so tired and so sleepy all week, I am in desperate need of a nap.
Regardless, I suppose I manage... Here is my recap in cased you missed it.
Over at I Adore Books and Film:

My book review of Halo by Alexandra Adornetto
My movie review of Hereafter directed by Clint Eastwood, which opened today in theatres.
My daughter is currently reading the Pretty Little Liar Series and I'm currently reading Beautiful Darkness - Reviews to come.
On True Blood Twilight:
My Weekend of HIFF with both Roger and Ryan
In Fanfic news, Chapter 4 of Le Moulin Rouge is up! Jezibel Fudges Cries, took me long enough. For those who are not familiar with my story, Bella is a young Parisian dancer at Moulin Rouge, and Edward is an English playwright. Yes, there will be absinthe and yes there will be lemons. Do check me out.
And my new obsession as of today, The Hood by Yogagal - thanks @Donnersun on Twitter. I'm only on chapter 3, but I'm addicted. The characters are in high school, love to talk about films and love to smoke pot. Enough said. I'm fucking in. Plus Stonerward, sounds hot. What I like about this fanfic, I don't have to think. It's airy and fun and exactly what I'm looking for right now. Honest to god, if you can read chapter 1 and not want to keep reading, your weird. Okay, maybe not weird, but seriously check it out.
And last, how can I not leave you with a movie recommendation. Now, this one is for the kids and is because I'm an avid reader and I enjoy films; best of both worlds. My pick is Something Wicked This Way Comes, a 1983 Disney film based on the 1962 novel by Rad Bradbury, titled the same.
My summary: In a small American town, a diabolical circus and its demonic proprietor stroll in mysteriously in the middle of the night. Preying off the residents and their inner desires, one by one, people begin to go missing. Sensing something supernatural is occurring, two young boys take it upon themselves to expose the "autumn people" for what they really are, but doing so may cost them their own lives.
Great way to introduce the classic tales of Ray Bradbury to your little ones. Though, I may have to shin-kick Disney for making a few changes, it's still basically the same story.

My Weekend at HIFF-A Day With Ryan and Roger
This last Thursday kicked off Hawaii International Film Festival-HIFF, which lasts from October 14-24. It is the first time that I have even thought to visit such an event, and the first time I am actually participating as press.
Anyway, the perks of being a film critic... *coughsRyan*
This Saturday, I was fortunate enough to see the Hawaii Premiere of Red Hill (which will be released in selected U.S. theatres November 5) with Ryan Kwanten himself. If you don't recognize... RECOGNIZE. I see big things for this Australian actor.
Ryan Kwanten plays Jason Stackhouse on the hit HBO show, True Blood and honestly, the man can act. I was very impressed with him in Red Hill.
Up and personal, Ryan appears just as you would think- a little slender, not very tall... and here's the surprise; he is very soft spoken. (Not like the overly confident-Jason Stackhouse.) In his native accent, the boy is captivating in a I-want-to-make-out-with-you sorta way.
Once it was time, Ryan stood near the bottom and introduced the film. I don’t remember what he said because I was too busy taking photos of him. All I remember was his dreamy voice over the mic.
Once the film got started, we all settled in. Unfortunately for me, Ryan did not stay for the entire viewing and I did not get to bum-rush him with all my questions at the end as I was slated to do. *Sighs*
Now onto the movie. It was absolutely awesome. In a nutshell, the movie is high suspense; a thriller set like an old fashion western with a little bit of comedy mixed in to lighten, somewhat otherwise intense moments. I found myself jumping at certain parts, and covering my mouth near the ending, when the plot suddenly twists in a oh-shit-I-didn't-see-that-coming finale. If you have the opportunity, do check out Red Hill (Rated R), Sony Aus.
Earlier that day, I did also get to meet Roger Ebert at a book signing.

Earlier that day, I did also get to meet Roger Ebert at a book signing.
As I was waiting in line, it occurred to me just how much Roger Ebert has done for the film community. His resume reads something like this: Writer for the Chicago Sun-Times since 1967, Pulitzer Prize Winner, Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Recipient, Author, Screenwriter, Film Critic (Famous for Siskel and Ebert) among other things. He even has his own film festival, Ebertfest. Roger is literally a living legend.
Now, most of you probably remember Roger had suffered thyroid cancer and has had several surgeries. Unfortunately in 2006, he underwent surgery once more, removing additional tissue near his throat and part of the right side of his lower jaw. Yet, here he is today, still inspiring others and still giving back.
Me and Roger
As I was talking to his wife, I explained that I enjoyed watching movies so much, that I was able to partner with a local magazine and launch a dedicated film newsletter. When she looked down to see if Roger was done signing, she noticed that he had scribbled on a sticky note. Questioning what he was up to, she realized he had written a short message to me; it said to email him my newsletter and website. He had been listening...
I had noted myself as an “aspiring” film critic.
He corrected me.
Of any one person I have ever met, Roger certainly had left an impression on me. All it takes is for one person... to care... to say, “you matter”. I was very touched and I can say without a doubt, Roger Ebert is one of the nicest people I have ever met.

If You Could Ask Ryan Kwanten A Question...
Ryan Kwanten (Jason Stackhouse of True Blood) will be here in Hawaii premiering his newest film, RED HILL, this saturday at the Hawaiian International Film Festival-HIFF.
He will also be participating in a Q&A thereafter. So there lies my question-what would you ask Ryan?
I’ve got a few questions in my head, but I’d love to hear what you all would like to know, and if I’m lucky, I just might be able to ask him for you.
Seriously, if given the opportunity-what would you like to ask this hunk of an Aussie?
In the mean time, let me take a moment to pimp Ryan’s new film.
The escaped prisoner is Jimmy Conway, a convicted murderer serving life behind bars. He returns to the isolated outpost seeking revenge. Now caught in the middle of what quickly becomes a horrifying blood bath, Shane will be forced to take the law into his own hands if he is to survive. Australian director Patrick Hughes' feature film debut is a taut thriller, told as a modern day Western. Set against the spectacular backdrop of high-country Australia, the story unfolds with explosive and chilling violence over the course of a single day.

Cutie Tags Me and There Is Some Sugar to be Poured!
Mama Cutie from Super Secret Twilight Blog and Sofa King Cutie has tagged me-so now that my brain can stop and think (literally, all I want to do is look at Forks pics), I can finally sit down and blog (but there may still be some forks havoc included)!!
I haven’t done a meme, memo, questionnaire... whatever those things are called in a long time, so I’m totally happy to do so today.
*Coughs* Cutie? Really? You don’t know?
Okay, I’m with Rob Pattinson and we are at Alex Skarsgard’s house. *wink, wink*
2. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
2. If you could only eat one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Well, I’ll tell you what we eat most in this house-Italian food. So... I could probably eat Italian for the rest of my life-I realize that is not one thing, but I need to put my cheese on something... Jesus Cutie!
3. Has a fortune cookie ever really told you your fortune?
No, so what the fuck is up with that? Damn fortune cookies are delicious.
4. When you are at the movies, which arm rest is yours?
Eww. Who am I sitting next to?
5. If you could use one song as a form of torture for your enemies, what song would you choose?
Something from my husband’s collection-probably Rudimentary peni/Teenage Time Killer. He tortures me with it.
6. What movie do you watch anytime it comes on TV, even though you own the dvd?
Love Actually. *Sighs*
7. What was your biggest childhood fear? Does it still scare you?
The darkness. Being Catholic, I believe!! Shit lurks in the dark!!
8. Are you a morning person, or a night owl?
I’m a morning person. I have to be at work at 7am so my body is just trained.
And that is it!! Thanks Cutie for tagging me!
Now, for a little sugar-there is no need to set this up. Just watch.

World Smile Day!
So, I'm a little late in joining in... but I wanted to contribute to the world wide tribute. (For more information on World Smile Day, click here)
Both Tongue-Twied and Robmusement helped moved this cause along by getting bloggers to post a pic of what makes them smile *coughs Rob*. Technically it can be anything... *coughs Rob*
I'm still Forked, so I went with a video because I'm lazy.
This is a video that Biel did for a friend. Regardless, the video made me SMILE!! The words are beautiful and I dedicate it to everyone out there - with love... from me... to you!

Put A Fork In Me, I'm done!
Words cannot express how much fun I had on my recent Forks trip hosted by Twitarded. As I know each person had their own expectations, fears or goals-I truly did not know what mine were.
Normally, I have severe anxiety meeting new people and it seems to have gotten worse, the older I get. When it comes to work functions, I prefer to be behind the scenes, rather than upfront and personal. So you can imagine the obstacles I had to face when talk of this trip started.
But... something inside compelled me to want to go and with a little kind words from VitaminR, I did something I would never in a million years do-book my ticket to Forks to meet as many twilight fans as I could.
Now this isn't to say, I wasn't scared fucking shitless when it came to meeting everyone but I have to say, every person I met at Forks was genuine and kind and the stress of meeting all these fabulous women, is thankfully behind me. What I have been left with are fond memories of these gals, the Washington scenery and the beautiful pictures of my trip. *Le Sigh*
When it comes down to it, it has always been about me wanting to see in real life the town made so famous by the four books that changed my life. And how could I not want do this with other women, so clearly affected by our passion for Twilight. Thank you JJ, STY, LatchkeyWife and Vitamin R.
Now, a little taste of my trip.
Thursday, I flew into Seatac and finally got to meet TwilightCupcake. She is every bit as cute as I thought she would be and an uber good tour guide, I might add. After getting our rental car, we then headed to Pike's Market for the day. The weather was fabulous, the views amazing, the shopping fun, and the clam chowder-to die for.

Here we are in front of the Escala Building. *coughs*
Best fucking clam chowder I have ever tasted.
I did also score in a movie memorabilia shop at Pike's market and purchased the Official Twilight Movie Script. It has since been confiscated by my daughter. She claims it is random and took it from me while I was unpacking. Damn her!
On our way to Forks... By the time I checked in at around 9/10pm, I was too tired to venture out and after a sleeping pill, hit the sack.
Friday came around and after much needed breakfast, we were off to Rialto Beach but not without making a few stops along the way. Then guess what? We had dinner at Bella Italia in Port Angeles! Couldn't ask for a better day.
Here I am trying to be a car model. Yeah... fucking NO.
TC, Lisa, Twired Jen, StarLitViolet
Mrs. P, Me and Twilove1 Sue.
Mrs. P and Chimpsten at Rialto Beach.
I adore Mrs. P!
Twilove1 Sue, StarlitViolet, Lisa, TC, Me,
Twired Jen, CC, and Mrs. P at Rialto Beach.
I will not speak of what happened to poor CC. *smiles*
This is my favorite pic! This is seriously how happy
we were to be there.

Our group having dinner at Bella Italia in Port Angeles.
Of course I had the mushroom ravioli...
and some crab cakes. Jesus, I can't live off pasta alone!
Btw, Face Punch was not playing
at the Port Angeles theatre.
But ironically, Eclipse was.
Then came Saturday! I finally got to do a self guided tour with TC and end the evening in style with all the gals at the Twilight Lounge. So super fun!!
I can't NOT included a sign photo.
TC and Me at La Push, baby, La Push.
(Btw, this beach is beyond beautiful.
One of the most scenic coast lines I've ever seen.)
God Bless them, they did a great job with our crowd.
Let's get this party started!!
Me, TJ and Vitamin R!
(Side note, TJ can DANCE!)
STY and Me! She is even more beautiful in person!
Dangrdafne, STY, Myg, JJ, Latchkeywife and VitaminR.
I love JJ so much, I'm trying to dry hump her!
(TC, did you put Macro on this shot?)
Vitamin R and Me-she is the whole reason I
worked up the courage to buy my ticket.
She also taught me what Unicorns means, but that is a
different story.
Dangrdafne (love her dress!), TC, Lisa
Me, MusingBella, Mrs. P, Twired Jen and Twilove1 Sue.
We rocked that party!
As pictures slowly get uploaded, and my brain can focus on all the stuff I purchased, I will certainly do another post. (And if anyone has video of Mrs. P, Twired Jen, LatchkeyWife and Me singing Def Leopard-Pour Some Sugar On Me! Email me!!)
For those that did not get the opportunity to travel, let me say from the bottom of my heart, you were missed.
For those that I did get to meet, I wish I had more time... I really would have liked to have met all 130 something of you.
Thank you Twilight Cupcake for being my roomie, my doctor (thank god she brought the meds) and my new good friend. I know we live miles away, but we will travel again!
And for now, this post is a wrap.
Put a Fork In Me, I'm Done....
