An Eclipse Novella~Do I dare?

"I have a new book coming out. It's called The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. Well, it's more of a novella than an actual book—my version of a short story.

Actually, this has been a surprise to me, too. The reason why it's a surprise was that I never intended to publish this story as a stand-alone book. I began this story a long time ago—before Twilight was even released. Back then I was just editing Eclipse, and in the thick of my vampire world. I was thinking a lot about the newborns, imagining their side of the story, and one thing led to another. I started writing from Bree's perspective about those final days, and what it was like to be a newborn."

So normally while I wait for coffee to brew, I plop on my couch and play with my iPhone. I check emails, and look at facebook, browse twitter for updates...

Oh snap.

Then I see it!

@Twitwin1 : WAKE UP and be excited with me! MORE ECLIPSE! *jumps up and down, spins around, and claps*

What?

I reply back: I was sick yesterday, what did I miss? An Eclipse clip released?

Then I hit facebook again, and low and behold.... I see that an Eclipse Novella is set to be released and I run into my daughters room. "Guess what! There's going to be an Eclipse Novella released in June!"

My daughter replies sleepily, "What is a novella?"

Me, "A short story!"

Daughter still sleeping, "Oh yeah." Falls back asleep. "Can you shut my door, mom?"

What the hell?

I have no one to squee with! (Btw, when I'm squeeing, it was 6am in the moring. My daughter is very calculated and wakes up at exactly 6:45am, to be at school at 7:30am. Do not wake her up prior too!)

~

Many of you who have followed SM since the beginning know this feeling well.

When you first picked up Twilight, you felt as if you fell down that rabbit hole. Afraid, clawing at the tree trunk, you drifted slowly downward-deeper into the abyss.

You paced anxiously, as you waited for the next book. Then as New Moon hit the shelves, you see before you a bottle with drink me, and a petit four cake with eat me on it. You run towards it, losing yourself in New Moon's angst.

Finally reaching the end of the book, you are now the right size to fit through the door. With key in hand, you head for it and begin to unlock the door, turning the knob, you hear a voice echo what is, is not; and what is not, is. You can not tolerate it any further and you open the door, revealing the long awaited next book, Eclipse.

From there, the moment of bliss is burdened with turmoil, and as you read of Victoria's anger and her lust for revenge, you run deeper into the wonderland, begging for the next release....

Then comes Breaking Dawn, and with it, you are catapulted into chaos as teacups are thrown at you, a clock swirls near your ears, a Queen calls for your death.... You reach the end of your novel, and the end of your journey.

Some feel anger, some tears of joy. As you finally have recovered, and now joyfully enjoy your sanity, you wake to see a plate near your bed. On it, a bottle and a petit four. Do you dare?

Hell Yes, I dare! I can not wait for June 5th, and remember, a dollar for each book sold will benefit the American Red Cross.

One Two Three; Who Shall It Be? Summit Pick Sophia!

Alright. Most of you have heard from EW.com, that Summit has approached three top notch directors (And yes we’ve had this discussion before but apparently someone forgot to call Guillermo Del Toro. Probably the ass cracks at Summit.)

So who are they and what can they offer?

Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation), Gus Van Sant (Milk), and Bill Condon (Dreamgirls)

I’d say that’s a very diversified group of directors, wouldn’t you say?

I have not seen Dreamgirls yet, so I can’t comment on Bill Condon, but I am familiar with the other two directors.

Gus Van Sant is a great director, but in my opinion, horribly wrong for Breaking Dawn. Let’s face it, Milk was a great movie, a heartbreaking movie, a political movie. Sure he’s done other films like Good Will Hunting, Finding Forrester... but do any of them make you say.... Yeah! He’s perfect for Breaking Dawn. Not really, right? I’m afraid, I’ll be bored to tears if he’s set to direct.

Now on to my pick; Sophie Coppola. God this woman is my mentor. She just pisses brilliance. I mean literally.

So what has she done that’s so fucking good? OMG. Lost in Translation, Marie Antoinette, The Virgin Suicides.... (Yes she was in the Godfather I, II, III-Mary Corleone. By all means, that makes her untouchable.)

I know some of you younger ones haven’t seen Lost In Translation, and I won’t make that your homework assignment. What I will ask you to watch though, is Marie Antoinette. She took the true story of Maria Antoinette and gave it a rock star twist, almost comparing her lifestyle to someone thrust into money and fame at an early age with no guidance, using the music from the 80’s as her inspiration. Truly artistic! And Kirsten Dunst and Jason Schwartzman are absolutely wonderful in the movie. By the time I had reached the end, knowing the fate of the Queen, I was hot mess; snotty nose and all. Her style is completely my vibe, and if she truly was approached and does accept. I will jump for fucking joy and I will record it for all of you to see my fat ass being happy. Now please go rent the movie, and then tell me what you think. Wouldn’t she be perfect as the director for Breaking Dawn?

Come on, we need a woman to capture these moments!
(Is that Lindsay Lohan? WTF?)

New Moon DVD Release Party!

First off, this is the first year that I have 1) Twi friends to share my whorish ways with and 2) That I didn't have to drag my husband to the midnight release of the DVD and I didn't have a melt down crying because I have no twi friends. (Which btw I bought the exclusive Blu-ray DVD from Target)

With that being said, Saturday was a blast!

It all started with KP and I running somewhat late, but as we always say, something weird always happens when we both get together and do something twi-related.

Thus when I get to the party and park, a girl stands by her car ready to inform me that I hit her. WTF?

I honestly felt nothing, and this girl was a like a Twi-buzz kill. So after about 10 minutes of KP and I inspecting her bumper and looking at my hummer (I know, fuck. I probably did rub her bumper. Think of me as the Latina mom on the show Modern Family.) The girl decides it's not a big deal, but feeling weird, I still give her my cell number.

Now that I'm in a funk.... It takes me a minute to unwind at the party. *Let's out a deep breath* So channeling my inner peace, I say 'fuck it, and whatever' and plant my ass in the corner of Lori's backyard.

Let the festivities begin!! Here are some pics.

How big is my friends outdoor screen?

All of us starting to pack in.

Our projector Guy

That's Lori (w/paper in hand)! She threw the party.
Lori has tons of Twi-collectibles. So much so...
she was featured in our local newspaper.
Plus she got Best Buy to sponsor her trivia gifts.
She's big time!

ck.twilighter and TwiTwin2

A couple of cuties dressed as
Rosalie/Bella

TwiTwin2, Me in the middle and KP on the Right

So fun harrasing Jacob fans. I had a blast!

Bella and Edward kiss. Swoon!

Donna's car! I had to show you!

So my husband in honor of me going to a twi-party with KP, decides he's going to have his own party. He takes the kids to the market, buys fried burritoes, a pizza, hot wings and potatoe wedges. My husband is sick the next day.... Hmm. I wonder why?

What did you all do? Which DVD did you buy?

Double The Trouble; Remember Me and How To Be, Movie Reviews

*Disclosure~ spoilers ahead

September 11th, 2001, San Clemente California; It was early in the morning, and my husband called me and asked me to turn on the television. I was doing real estate at that time and working from my home. I was 29 years old, my son was 9, my middle daughter 3, and my youngest only 1….

Remember Me

Flash forward; I’m sitting in the theatre with my twi-bestie KP and our friend Sam. First off, there was no picture and the sound was fast forwarded. Finally after two trailers, a man in the back of the fairly empty theatre gets up to assumingly inform management.

Soon the sound is restored correctly and we now hear Edward’s voice. Instantly KP and I, gasp, as within a half of a second later, the trailer for Eclipse appeared. This appears to be the work of the ghost employee, as I remind you all, this theatre is fucking haunted. Every damn time KP and I try to do something twilight related in that theatre, the ghost does something weird back to us. *takes in a deep breath* We feel slightly screwed over at not getting the full experience of the Eclipse trailer in the theater but prepare for the feature movie.

Flash forward; I’m in tears, my nose is running and I feel slightly sick. I am traumatized by the ending but in a positive way. I feel the movie was… brilliant.

Though the accents were horrid, I will say that this might be Rob’s best performance to date. As one movie critic noted, it is not just a love story, but a love letter. A retelling of events that, in my eyes, cleverly entangled the stories of several individuals, all bound by one destined tragedy.

Let me say for the record, I had no idea what the movie was about, nor did I see any of the subtle clues (American Pie playing on the big screen) of the movie being set 10 years ago. My only complaints, if I dare speak of any, are that many of the clips of poignant scenes within the movie, I had already seen. So I felt at times, like I had seen a good majority of the movie. The love scenes were hot, except for Emilie’s mole. Rob in jail, mocking the guys that he hit, hilariously funny, as was his conversation with his roommate Aidan. The drama over Caroline’s hair disaster, I felt was a bit overreacted by the family, but ultimately it led to one of the most touching scenes in the movie, Rob sitting at his father’s desk viewing pictures of the family photos that flashed on his father's computer screen.

I laughed, I felt a little roused, I got angry, and I cried.

KP would like to add;

I felt emotionally raped, but not offended. Although this national tragedy hit everyone hard…I think we need to pay a little more respect to those who either suffered the loss more personally or those who live in the areas directly attacked. We are off on our little island in the middle of the Pacific and don’t have to look at the skyline that is not complete and never will be. We don’t have to re-live that day as a part of our routine life. I also have a friend whose mother lost her life on one of the ill-fated airplanes. I thought of her at the ending too. How her life has changed tremendously. The ending may offend her. In the end, it moved us, all of us, in different ways. I will continue to see movies that make you feel something, for better or worst…

*Okay, enough drama for your mama. Let both KP and I say, that we had low expectations for the movie, and well, the movie exceeded them. We both give it thumbs up and recommend that you see it. (Dangrdafne~I am almost positive too, that Hot Pockets were both in Tyler's freezer as well as Ally's Dads.)

How To Suck Be

In an attempt to wash my brain from the Tyler Hawkins drama, I turn to rent what looks to be like a quirky comedy, How To Be.

An hour into the movie; Shit.

Credits roll. *takes deep breath* The movie was horrible and I can honestly tell you, not worth your time.

Art; played by Robert Pattinson is a whiny, lost college graduate that is desperate for his family’s attention. His girlfriend has dumped him, and he lost his volunteer position at the local community center because of his aggressive behavior with the mentally challenged.

His two best friends, Ronny (a Billy Corgan look-a-like) and Nikki (a Joe Strummer look-a-like) are just as worthless and pathetic and convince Art to start a band, in an attempt to cure his depression.

Through a lot of nonsense, Art looks for guidance from a self-help book, and spends much of his money to bring out the author, to live with him in an attempt to correct his misfortunes. In the end, Art moves out of his parents home, his parents feel bad for the way he's been treated all these years, and his band now has more than five people watching him at the local pub.

Does my review make any sense? Exactly, much like the movie. In no way, does this movie do ‘quirk’ justice, and if you want to watch a ‘quirky comedy’ than you need not look any further than the brilliant work of Director, Wes Anderson; Rushmore, Royal Tenebaums, Darjeeling Limited, Life Aquatic of Steve Zissou.

I can not in good faith, recommend this movie and I know that's being harsh but truly I have enjoyed Rob's other work; The Haunted Airman and Little Ashes. This movie was just not entertaining, and at times very hard to sit through. For your convenience, I have attached the only humorous scene. This is Rob playing for the mentally challenged, a dreadful song called Choking on The Dust (The second half of the video are clips of the making of How To Be). BTW, my daughter has been running around singing this song, just to torture me.

“Female Force” Comic Book featuring Charlaine Harris-Win Your Signed Copy Here!

HBO’s 'True Blood' Creator Next Subject Of ‘Female Force’ Bio Comics
Official Press Release:

For most of the more than 20 years that Charlaine Harris has spent writing mysteries, she fit squarely into that later category. She had her fans, but she was nowhere near a household name. Then she created a character called Sookie Stackhouse, and everything changed.

Sookie Stackhouse is now the featured character on HBO's hit southern gothic vampire series True Blood. And Harris, who will release her 10th Sookie Stackhouse book this summer, is finally one of those household names.

This May, Harris will also star in her first comic book, as the subject of Bluewater Productions' latest entry in its popular Female Force line of biographical comics. Harris herself participated in Female Force: Charlaine Harris, granting extensive interviews to writer Kim Sherman. This marks an important first for Bluewater: Harris is the first celebrity to be interviewed for the Female Force series.

"Gathering first-hand information and feeling the strength that Harris exudes, both personally and professionally, immensely contributes to the originality and authenticity of this Female Force book," said writer Sherman.

Nathaniel Ooten provided the interior art for Female Force: Charlaine Harris, while artist Patricio Carbajal provided the cover.

This book is an especially appropriate one for Sherman. Earlier, Sherman wrote Bluewater's Fame: Robert Pattinson, profiling the actor who stars as the vampire with a conscience in the hit Twilight movies. In profiling Harris, Sherman is again exploring the world of literary vampires.

For Bluewater president Darren G. Davis, the Harris biography provides another chance to introduce new readers to the world of comic books.

"With our Female Force, Fame and Political Power biography comics, we've introduced countless new readers to the joy of sequential storytelling," Davis said. "These comics have proven to be exceptionally popular. We expect Charlaine Harris' story to attract even new readers to the graphic format."

Maybe One Of The Hottest Rob Videos Ever!

I’ve seen a lot of action in my day; some good, some bad. But this Rob Video Vet keeps on ticking, and sometimes there’s just that gem of a find... all the flashbacks, the nightmares, their all wiped away in that split, one minute in half video, (that’s all my brain can handle for video).

Behold, one of my new favorite videos, and possibly to date, the hottest!!! Um, okaybaithanx!

Have a good weekend! As for me, I just ask that I do not have any tsunami headed my way, I get out to see Alice In Wonderland 3D IMAX, and last... that I drink something alcoholic in the sun. That is all.

*Disclosure; I only lovingly tease about being a Vet, as I have to hear about the wonders of the VA hospital, once a week from my dad, a Vietnam Vet.

UPDATE: I forgot to thank the person, who made this wonderment! First off, Susie you freaking rock for emailing me, and the video was made for you, BB!! Second, thank you, thank you, thank you; TwilightsHorizons for taking the time to put this together. Outstanding editing and the song... You killed me with the song.

Hot Pockets Are Evil!

I really didn't think about it, yet the words would haunt me, day in and day out. Something would whisper in my ear, like the wind howling at night through the dead branches of trees behind my home. "HoooooT Pooooocket."

To say the whole thing was eerie is an understatement.

Then it dawned on me. Why do Twilight fans keep talking about Hot Pockets; has Rob had one before?

So as any reputable journalist would do, I turn to youtube. There with shaky fingers, I type in the words; Rob Pattinson... Hot Pockets.

The videos start to sprout, like the hair on my daughter's armpit. Oh sweet mother of pearl... He did say it, and just as easily as he could have eaten a Hot Pocket, it could have been worse. It could have been a 'Big Burrito' or 'Chili Nachos', all those seemingly delicious conviently-placed by the counter at convenience stores-hot foods, that in all actuality, are made by the devil, himself.

Immediately I become nauseous, as I ponder how to get the word out there. I must! It is my civil duty! And so I bring you this very important service announcement.

People, have you not seen Jim Gaffigan's sermon! WTF? Someone explain this shit to Rob. Hot Pockets are evil, packaged in a deceiving little package of diarrhea.

Do you see what the devil has done to this kid?
Do you want to be like him?

Please, I beg you. No I implore you! Do not eat Hot Pockets! Please watch this video and then spread the word. Hot Pockets must die! I mean, er, they are evil. That is all.

Beautiful Creatures; My Book Review

I had heard about the book, through several of the bloggers over at Bewitched Bookworms, though, as with everything. Finding the time to start a book, amongst the others that I had already bought sitting patiently in my library (the bookshelf in my living room), is easier said than done.

After my daughters left for a competition in Atlanta, I found I had an enormous amount of free time (who would of thunk, right?). I head over to Barnes and Nobles, and start browsing books. Never really one to venture in the YA section, unless I'm looking for my daughter, I some how feel compelled at that moment to head in that direction, and begin looking for Beautiful Creatures, written by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.
Much to my surprise, I can not find it and panic. I head over to the information desk, and the young lady assists me, helping me purchase the final copy they have. (Sorry KP, you have to drive miles away to find your own copy.)

This is where the magic begins; I am swept up in a world of young love, mystery, and sorrow.

My first reaction to the book, was that it was good. I was instantly drawn to Ethan and very curious about Lena. As the story progresses, there is a sudden sense of urgency, as the mystery thickens, and some where around page 200, I blinked and just like someone had cast a spell on me, I had finished the book to it's length, at around 593.

Beautiful Creatures is about a young man, named Ethan, who lives in a small town called Gatlin County. Seemingly a quite town, Ethan can not wait till he turns 18, so that he can finally move, I suppose in his eyes, to see the 'world'. Set in the South, the authors do a remarkable job of capturing the essence of small county 'thinking' and in particular, what it is like to live in the South.

We soon come to learn, that Ethan's mother had died awhile ago, and his father, a writer, has become a recluse. The only other person Ethan is really close with, is his best friend Lincoln, who embodies what a best friend should be like and his housekeeper Amma, who's harsh accent but loving ways, draws you in with her charm.

Unfortunately with all small towns, there are hypocrisies, and no school would be any fun, with out those that claim to be wholesome and pure, aka the cheerleaders, but are seemingly cruel and malicious. So needless to say, there is always a group of girls, as I affectionately call them, 'the mean' girls.

Yet then there are the dreams...

Ethan is plagued by nightmares, and with no one to explain them too, he is forced to deal with them the only way he knows how. He ignores them. That is until Gatlin County receives a new visitor. A young girl Ethan's age, Lena Ravenwood. And so the story begins, Ethan becomes drawn to Lena, as there is this inexplicable connection between the two of them, and the strange nightmares they both now share. Ethan and Lena quickly become... one of my most favored couples since Edward and Bella. Gasp!

Kami and Margaret have done an outstanding job of balancing the supernatural, while creating a mystique of 'coolness' as we learn more about this sleepy town, Gatlin County and the Civil War. We are left wondering, what else is out there?

My final reaction to Beautiful Creatures; Obsession.

So I wanted to turn your attention to Bewitched Bookworms blog, as they have a wonderful contest going on right now, where you can win your very own 'SIGNED' copy! That's right, signed copy, by both authors. Please visit their blog for more details!
