Why does the new Eclipse paper back cover remind me of something?
Hmmm...
I see...
I've got it. That's because the cover for Eclipse looks like they married the House of Night Series with The Vampire Diaries. I like it but it's unoriginal and kind of 'been there, done that'.
Now traditionally paperbacks will use their new tv/movie logo, as in the Sookie Stackhouse books using both the original paintings;
Original artwork by artist Lisa Desimini
or the True Blood logo
But the publishers are also releasing this cover as well for Eclipse;
Is it just me, or does that bug the fuck out of you? I kind of feel like the publishers are trying to bleed young fans into purchasing both books, just to have the different covers. Not cool, and it's just my opinion. Frankly, what the fuck was wrong with the ribbon?
I love the ribbon!

That's what I was thinking too! If you want to make a cash cow out of something then they need to push Stephenie into finishing Midnight Sun...that would be sure to make more money than the same freakin' book with different covers! She needs to stop with her "I'm not writing any more vamp. books right now" and realize where her heap of money came from...it wasn't from the Host!
I was thinking the same thing girl!
I understand that they would do a paperback copy with the movie cover...like they did for Twi and New Moon...but why that 3rd option for Eclipse. I guess like you said they're trying to market it to the younger crowd that is just now getting into it...BUT isn't it already a cash cow?subieco
The first cover--I'm okay with because there is no JB. HA HA!!!
Leaving half of Rob's face out on the second cover, that's just wrong! But I might be tempted to buy it for that poster--it is more, ummm discrete in size.
SM should just open a new branch of banks and let me sign up for direct deposit of my paycheck.
I suppose a third version of Twilight and New Moon can't be far behind then to match the Eclipse cover. Greedy, greedy, greedy.
I bought Twilight only because "that gorgeous bloke who played Cedric Diggory" was on the cover, then I went & bought the original coz I like it better. I'm with you, I love the ribbon. Everthing in regards to the saga is a cash cow now.
The girl on the cover of Vampire Diaries is how I pictured Rosalie.
I thought there were three versions of the Twilight books, 1) hard cover, 2) paperback (same size as the hard cover) and 3) paperback mass market (smaller version).
I then thought that the paperback sized as the hard cover comes in the regular cover and movie version cover and the mass market books only come in the a movie version cover. At least this is what I have seen.
Then of course there are the special editions.
Actually, the first book cover I thought of when I saw version with only Bella's face is The Host. But it looks like its a trend with vampire books.
I know, I know...there are so many versions of the books! A "Paperback - Media Tie-In" AND a "Mass Market Paperback - Media Tie-In"...what the hell is the difference? One is bigger and one is smaller. (I do appreacite the mass market size though...I have it in Twilight and its so easy to shove into my purse.)
It does seem like they are just trying to empty our pockets...the Last Song is doing it as well. I'm not sure how many other movies do it. Lord of the Rings...I'd be curious to see how many movie cover versions there were.
But on the plus side I really like the covers...and the fact that they have done these different version even with Twilight..it makes me feel better. It's not just a New Moon or an Eclipse thing. Haha they've been trying to get our money even before the fandom exploded!
